Boston Celtics Rondo is suspended 2 games.

Rondo is suspended for his involvement in a tussle with Brooklyn Nets Kris Humphries after a hard foul against Rondo's fellow teammate Kevin Garnett.

This is Rondo's 3rd suspension over a nine-month time frame. He was also given a two game ban in February for throwing a ball at an official,  A one game suspension in April for making contact with an official during game one of the quarterfinals.

Rondo spoke to the league officials and hoping that he would be spared, seeing that nobody who plays basketball wants to be sitting on a bench.  The Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers said "he didn't believe that Rondo's actions deserved a suspension."

Not only did Rondo get hammered with a 2 game suspension, His teammate Kevin Garnett was fined $25,000 for "escalating the altercation" along with a technical foul, and Brooklyn Nets forward Gerald Wallace was fined $35,000. Rondo, Wallace, and Kris Humphries were all ejected from Wednesday's game.

America Immigrant Dumping Ground? C.Harris

A phoenix police officer patrolling near 14th and Polk discovered a horse trailer in an alleyway, when he further expected he found that it was stuffed with 79 hungry, hot, thirsty immigrants hopeful to start a new life in America.
Shocking yes, new not even close this phoenix neighborhood has been subject to immigrants constantly being bought a crossed the border and dumped. A local business owner Bob Brunelle says " I’ve called before and told them there was a van in the alley with a lot of people in it, by the time they get contacted they are gone.”
That rise the question how many other UN inspecting to neighborhoods have been the gateway for illegal immigrants into America? Will  the dumping of mothers and children all optimistically waiting to be American citizens stop since this bust. Bob Brunelle doesn’t think so " I don’t think they’ll drop them off in this neighborhood again for a while"
The 11 children (2 in infancy) and 68 adults where transferred to an immigrant holding facility waiting to be ship back to there life’s where they seem to eager to run away from at any cost. Is this an American victory or a dream crushed?

Who Was Here First?

How many times have you seen someone write on a desk, wall, or textbook, "John was here" or "Sarah was here?" Have you ever done it yourself? Have you ever stopped to think who the first person was to graffiti that somewhere?

The graffiti phrase was started by Shipyard inspector doing his job. His name was James J. Kilroy. During WWII, shipyard inspectors were in charge of making sure that all rivets were properly in place and checked. To allow for the next inspector to know where the last left off, they would chalk their signatures or make some type of indication on the ones checked. J.J. Kilroy's way of indicated what he had checked was by writing "Kilroy was here" accompanied by a man looking over a fence.

The phrase "Kilroy was here" became a symbol of hope for soldiers. It had displayed to them that someone else has been to the unfamiliar territories they were in. Soldiers began to copy the phrase for others. This later gave others the idea to write there name in different places to indicate that just like Kilroy, he too was there.

The phenomenon has continued ever since with others scribbling there name in various locations for others to see.

Reasons to love

I keep hearing different kinds stories everyday about kids committing suicides because they keep getting bullied. The story that cut my heart in two was when i heard about a 11 year old boy hanging himself because he just couldn't take the hurting other kids were dishing out to him anymore.

I keep wondering everyday. what would drive a person with so much hatred that they would go out their way to hurt someone to the extent that the person their bully can't take it anymore and feel like the necessary step they need to take is to just not exist anymore? Is it because we feel that they are just different from others? or because you think that they are so ugly, you just can't to look at their face anymore? this is all wrong.

I believe we were all created a different way for a reason. we need to find a reason to love. we need to go out of our way to show love to others. when we see someone been treated wrongly, stand up for them. Do not stay silent. Learn to love always.

Neighbors have complained that it happens all the time. This afternoon, Phoenix Police discovered a horse trailer packed with 79 illegal immigrants.

An officer patrolling near 14th street and Polk Avenue spotted a pickup truck connected to a dated wooden trailer. The driver was startled by the officer and bolted from the pickup when he discovered the officer approaching rapidly towards the vehicle which was illegally parked at a fire hydrant. The officer had noticed a hand hanging out through an opening in the trailer.

The officer, concerned for public safety, opened the trailer. Once opened, he saw jammed inside 68 adults and 11 young children, some as young as two years old clinging onto their mother’s bosom. The smell of urine and feces was overwhelming. The officer felt the heat inside like an oven door opening after baking a pot roast. He began to sweet.

A nearby business owner Bob Brunelle, stated, “It’s a weekly occurrence. You see vans pull in here, drop’em off, and then the guy drives off and the people just disperse in the neighborhood.”

Brunelle says he’s owned a discount auto business in the neighborhood for 30 years, but just recently, he says the community has become a dumping ground for illegal immigrants.

Brunelle goes on to say, “I’ve called before and told them there was a van in the alley here with a lot of people in it, well, you’ll have to contact so-and-so, and by the time they get contacted, the van’s gone.

This time Brunelle did not have to make a call. A Phoenix police officer spotted the horse trailer, investigated and found the 79 people inside. After two days in an un-air-conditioned trailer, everyone was thirsty and hungry, but no one was seriously ill.

“I’m glad they did something about this. It’s too bad there were those two babies in there, they took a hell of a chance, “said Brunelle.

Immigration Customs Enforcement loaded everyone on a bus, hauling them to the temporary holding facility in downtown Phoenix. Brunelle said he was glad to see it, “I don’t think they’ll drop off in this neighborhood again for a while.”

An Immigrations Customs Enforcement Spokesperson says, “he expects most of the illegal immigrants will be sent back home tonight.”

Kobe Bryant sets another NBA record

Los Angeles Lakers mega-star Kobe Bryant now has another NBA record to his name. With 1:17 left in the first half of Wednesday night's game against the New Orleans Hornets, Kobe cut through the lane and scored over center Robin Lopez to score the 30,000th and 30,001st points of his illustrious 17-year career. At 34 years, three months, and 12 days, that makes Bryant, the NBA's scoring leader this season at 27.9 points per game, the youngest in the history of the NBA to hit the mark. The previous youngest, Wilt Chamberlain, was more than a year older when he accomplished the feat during the 1971-72 season.

Only four other players have reached the 30,000-point mark in their career: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan, and Wilt Chamberlain, all of whom but Jordan played for the Lakers. That's very impressive company, obviously, and the only question now is just how far Kobe will get before he retires. Adbul-Jabbar, the all-time leader, is more than 8,000 points away. Assuming that Kobe averages 25 points per game for the rest of his career it would take him more than four full seasons to set the all-time record. Perhaps he'll settle for besting the player he's been compared to for most of his career, Michael Jordan, who sits at third all-time with 32,292 points. All of Bryant's points have come as a member of the Lakers, and it looks increasingly likely that he'll retire widely acknowledged as the best player in franchise history.

Doomsday

According to the Mayan calendar, a galactic alignment between the earth, sun, and a black hole is supposed to create chaos on earth on December 21st 2012. Many suggest that this date marks the end of the world, and a beginning of a new era. According to NASA, we have nothing to worry about as the earth has been getting along fine for the past 4 billion years and there is no threat to our planet this year. NASA is claiming that all of the assertions being made are clearly fictional, and that there is no concrete scientific evidence to support this theory. Yet this does not convince the naysayers. There are many people across the world that believe in the 1,300 year old hieroglyphics. The Inscriptions were found carved in the ruins of La Corona in Guatemala, and suggest an "end date" and not the actual end of the world as we see it. Whether you choose to believe in the Mayan calendar or not we are all aware of the publicity this phenomenon is getting, and all we can do is wait and see what happens the morning of December 21st, 2012.

Dog Lovers

"Dog is mans best friend." This quote is said by many dog owners all around the world. This quote is true because a dog is someone you can always depend on. They are loyal, comforting, smart, and protective. A best friend is someone with all of these characteristics. I know from personal experience that dogs have a bond with humans that no other animal has. If you do not have a dog, i would recommend getting one because your life will be changed with happiness.  A dog will become your best friend.

Horse trailer holding 79 illegal persons found
(by Sibylla Chipaziwa)

Phoenix police found a horse trailer with 79 illegal immigrants this afternoon. Inside, 68 adults and 11 children – one being just four months old – were discovered. They had been left in the trailer for two days, but all were in reasonably good health.

Bob Brunelle, a business owner in the area for 30 years now, stated that he has seen the community turn into a dumping ground for illegal immigrants over time. “It’s weekly like I said. You see vans pull in here, drop ‘em off, and then the guy drives off and the people just disperse in the neighborhood.” He went on to say, “ I’ve called before and told [the police] there was a van in the alley here with a lot of people in it, well, you’ll have to contact so-and-so, and by the time they get contacted, the van’s gone.”

This time around, Brunelle did not have to call anyone. A Phoenix police officer spotted the trailer, even saw the driver take off, and found the 79 persons inside. They were loaded onto a bus by the Immigration Customs Enforcement and taken to a temporary holding facility in downtown Phoenix. “I’m just glad they did something about this. It’s too bad there were those two babies in there, they took a hell of a chance,” said Brunelle.

An Immigration Customs Enforcement spokesperson later stated that most of the illegal immigrants were expected to be sent back home tonight.

Student - Cash Dyre Fish Market interview #1

Multimedia Journalism COMM 106 –

Student - Cash

Interview #1
Business fish market:

Good morning Mr. Michal.
My name is Cash, and I am a Westchester Community College Communications and Media student.
My professor has asked me to conduct an interview. I see that you have a very unique food service business model, and I would like to learn more about this type of service. If I may have ten minutes of your time, would it be ok if I interview you concerning your business?
Mr. Michal Green: Yes
(1)How did you become interested in the food industry?
I became interested when my father was a fisherman working at the Hunts Point food market. As a kid he used to take me there on my days off from school to learn more about what he did at work.
(2)How did you start your business?
Well, later in years during high school, I started work after school at the local fish market.
(3)What did you learn while working there?
I was shown how to deal with customers, how to pack the fish on display, how to clean them, cut them and of course I learned about different kinds of fish.
(4)What was the single most important lesson you learned while working for the local fish market that you applied to your existing business?
Well in all, I learned how to run a business, you know accounting supply and demand if you do not have what they want you can lose the business over night.
(5)Why did you choose this location?
I chose this location because of the foot traffic. At the corner just five stores to the right is the Holy Rosary church and just across from that is another church The Saint Ann Christian Assembly which means good business on Sunday afternoon. Directly across the street is a Nativity School which provides a steady lunch crowd during the week. If you take a short walk to the corner, you will see the number #16 bus which travels to and from CO-OP City which houses thousands of commuters. People also use the bus to come from Montefiore Hospital, and Fordham Road shopping area. The number #5 train from Manhattan is only a block and a half away, need I say more.
(6)You have a lot of knowledge about location. Is this your first location and if so do you plan to open more?
No. I purchased this location nine years ago. I have eight fish markets.
(7)Can you tell me more about how your market is different from others?
Yes. We sell fresh fish like other markets, but we also fry and steam fish and vegetables.
(8)What is the biggest money maker for you?
It would have to be the steamed fish. People from the tri-state area come to order steamed fresh fish and vegetables.
(9)Is this a family owned and run business and how will you continue your success?
Yes. It is my wife, my brother in-law, and my father who work and run the business. I will continue my success by opening new locations with heavy foot traffic.
(10)If you do not mind my asking how much would it cost to open a new location?
Well, after finding the right location, new construction which includes most of the heaver units like the steamer will set you back in the range of one hundred and sixty thousand.
